I don’t know what segments of the Water Margin will be staged, the cast is also unclear. Chen Chen (陈晨) (qingyi) is surely involved.

I think I recognize Yang Dannang (杨丹阳) from the photos, and Qiu Jirong (裘继戎) posted a few Istanbul photos this morning at Weibo (then deleted all before I could save them), I have no idea about the others. Whenever I visit the troupe website, I want to cry…

I don’t really have any play with Wang Ping that contains such a long scene without any military action or acrobatics (I don’t remember I’ve seen him in purely civil role), and a spectator mentioned several months ago that he presented some unexpectedly high level singing in Sitting in the Palace.

Photos provided by Shanghai blogger and jingju fan Lu Wen, who is lucky enough to see all the performances and open lectures I also would love to attend.

Thank you Bertrand for helping me to rephrase this post. It was really hard to give birth to these three sentences.

The first is a very sad play, everyone dies at the end. I made an attempt with all my video editing abilities to upgrade an old recording with Chen Shaoyun, Hu Xiaoan(?) and a very young Bao Fei (who plays an ungrateful, rude, old woman-tossing jerk), you can check it out here if you’re in the mood.
