Spectacular suicide
While waiting for next week’s competition, I re-watch Zhan Lei stuff. Browsing my folders I found a few amazing acrobatic performances I would like to share with you.
The first excerpt is brand new, from the National Day performances in Mei Lanfang Theater (1-7 Oct. 2011), the other two is from the gala stage of CCTV’s 6th National TV Contest of Young Jingju Performers (2008).
If Hao Shuai’s name seems familiar it’s not a coincidence, the young man got a prestigious award lately, also he plays a smaller role in this opera posted here earlier.

02:30 – Is this guy a human indeed…?!?
After confessing a crime, Gongsun Zidu, the main character of this military drama is committing suicide in remorse. He’s hitting himself to the ground until he dies.

02:35 – Just watching it made me dizzy.
(Zhan Lei is very expert in jumping around, check out his skill performance at the same contest.)
The protagonist is badly wounded but still fighting with multiple enemies. When completely surrounded, he’s committing suicide rather than being captured. *snif*
I think I made pretty obvious I’ll cheer with pompoms for Zhan Lei next week, but I’m really curious about other performers too, 30 people will compete in 25 scenes.
And I was able to finish this post without adding a drooling smiley! Improvement.
